HOW DOES IT WORK?
The quick and simple answer is:
The machine creates vibrations in water that are so strong, small bubbles form. These bubbles reach a critical point in which they must break. When they do break, each one forms it own cavity that must be filled with air. The pressure created from the air will blast dirt and grime off of any surface. Studies have shown that this method of cleaning is 30 to 40 per cent more effective than cleaning with regular cleaning solutions.
The longer answer for the technically minded is:
An Ultrasonic Jewellery Cleaner is an electronic device designed to remove dirt from rings, necklaces etc. The cleaners feature two basic parts: a transducer and a cleaning tank (all of our cleaners will have a removable basket or cleaning tray).
To begin the cleaning process, the cleaning tank is filled with warm water or a cleaning solution. Note: cleaning agents with bleach and acids should be avoided.

Place your jewellery in the basket or directly into the cleaning tank. Turn the machine on. Once on, the machine's transducer produces ultrasonic energy which is transmitted with vibrating energy waves. On average, ultrasonic cleaners emit at least 42,000 sound waves per second. The vibrating motion of the ultrasonic waves creates microscopic bubbles in the water or cleaning solution in a process called cavitations; millions of tiny bubbles knock into one another and into the items resting in the cleaning tank. The cavitations process gently knocks dirt off the jewellery.
The motion is very effective at penetrating the tiny crevices in jewellery that traditional cleaning cloths cannot easily reach. After about three minutes, the cleaning process is complete. The dirt and debris from the jewellery will settle and collect at the bottom of the cleaning tank. Remove the basket or jewellery from the cleaning tank and rinse with clean fresh water. You can complete the process by drying the jewellery with a soft cloth.
The machines are quite harmless and will not dis-lodge stones from settings on rings etc.

DO NOT clean precious stones without gaining approval from a jeweller first. Ultrasonic cleaning is not suitable for certain types of precious stones. Please use the table below as a guide only
